According to My Way of Life, The Summa Theologica For Everyone, “. . . the stronger the impulse to sin, the less grevious will the sin be.” So to, C.S. Lewis reportedly said something similar according to what I have read on the HOBD listserv as an oft bandied about quote regarding sexual sins being the least of all sins.
A discussion starter: Assuming the Summa is correct, what does that say about gay and lesbian issues in the church. Be it that homosexuality is the least of all sins, should the church then say it is not a sin? That is the logic many creedal Christian liberals would take (Sinner, don’t even start) – if it is the least of all sins, we can ignore it. What do you think?
