Eduardo Bonnin, Founder of Cursillos in Christianity, Died This Morning In Mallorca

God used this humble almond merchant from Mallorca to evangelize many environments internationally, and was very supportive of Cursillos in prison, otherwise known as Kairos, as he attended one of our summer conferences. He came to rest in his Lord at 4:00 p.m. today (9 a.m. CST) in Mallorca, Spain. Somehow, I think it fitting that he died on an Ash Wednesday. His life was filled with humble servanthood and evangelism. God used him to found a world wide movement that has brought many men and women into relationship with Jesus Christ and to follow a rule of life of piety, study and action. It is truly amazing what one person, and a lay person at that, can be used by God to do when they truly open themselves up to God’s purpose for their life.

Thank you, Eduardo, for listening to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and giving us this great Movement. Cursillo has touched so many lives, empowered so many people, and helped to build God’s Kingdom.

Now hear our Lord say to you: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant’.

I did my cursillo in 1978 under Rev. Fr. Theophane Wickramaratne, in Sri Lanka, and it was indeed an experience of a lifetime. I thank and praise God for the gift of Brother Bonnin. May his soul rest in peace.

We give praise and thanks to Eduardo for enriching our lives with the gift of Cursillo – we would not be where we are today without CURSILLO.

We pray for the repose of his soul – may he rest in peace.

    God bless EDUARDO.

I was born in a catholic family. Even though, I had not lived as a true catholic, until I attended my cursillo in 2002, I learned about the love of God, friendship and the “faraway person”.
Thank God for his dedication to the movement.

i’ve been a cursillista since i graduated from it in 1991.
I’ve started initially as the speaker explaining the roots and history of cursillo de Cristianidad, how it started in palma, how it arrived to the states, and eventually to the philippines (my country),

em now a lawyer, still a devote cursillo mover, a rollo speaker “rollista”, …..and i can only say this to mr bonnin.. the Holy Spirit that touched him on January 7, 1949, the first cursillo in sanctuario de san honorator lulliano de ronda, palma de mallorcia, is still present, residing and envigorating each Cursillo Class being held everywhere in the globe, even the ones adopted by our non-cotholic christian brothers, and more particularly in the philippines,

God bless to all brother cursillistas.. de Colores!
