Published January 14, 2008 Uncategorized 5 CommentsIt will, of course, not be pretty for reasons completely unrelated to the current unpleasantness. However, I’m sure the current unpleasantness will make things all the worse.
I really haven’t felt much like blogging about the Anglican Crisis (TM) lately. Litigation continues apace, with the Attorney General of Viriginia siding with CANA and filing a brief under his duty to argue the constitutionality of all Virginia statutes. My advice? Contact you local legislator and get Virginia’s division statute passed in your state – if it is Constitutional, it effectively prohibits the judiciary from using the hierarchical church theory in a church property dispute involving a church split involving more than one parish vs. the rest of the church, like the current unpleasantness.
Bishop Schofield has now been inhibited. I find this insignificant inasmuch as he has left the building, so to speak. Some are angry because Bishop Wimberly let this go forward, saying he should have voted “no” or resigned. I’m frankly not sure how I feel about this. However, I think this means TEC no longer recognizes the Southern Cone – what do you think?
The Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) in Jerusalem this summer will surely be significant, and I should have some news soon on some possible attendees.
